UKVI RAG rating and university compliance scores

A UKVI RAG rating is a sponsor-level compliance band — Green, Amber, or Red — derived from three published-style metrics. It is not a league table of academic quality; it measures immigration compliance performance.

Three metrics behind every rating

Each sponsor is scored on:

  • Visa refusal rate (Green: below 4%)
  • Student enrolment rate (Green: above 96%)
  • Course completion rate (Green: above 92%)

Worst-metric rule

The overall UKVI RAG rating equals the band of the weakest metric. Two strong scores cannot offset one failing threshold.

UK student sponsor rating vs academic ranking

A highly ranked research university can still be Amber or Red if compliance metrics breach thresholds. Always check RAG band separately from rankings or NSS scores.
